Good Morning,
I am wondering if anyone on AOB has luck with selling on other sites without selling on amazon. If so, please share your experience.

Anthony,
If you mean selling without having Amazon as part of your overall portfolio, no. However, I sell on multiple venues in addition to Amazon and I can tell you that the sad reality is that Amazon still consists of about 87-93% of my overall sales.
Wish it would pick up on other venues, but they are crushed under the giant. They are also fading more and more everyday, wish there was an alternative.
Concentrate on non-ISBN books and ABE and Biblio buyers should find you.

Yes, but unfortunately ABE is owned by Amazon. Sigh. All drops pool into the great, unstoppable river....
ABE allows the buyer to search for first editions and screen out POD garbage. Not so with Amazon : the proprietary "advanced search" engine suppresses ASINs of pre-1923 titles and diverts buyers to POD crap (I believe that Kessinger is an Amazon property) and Kindle.

Oh, I totally agree that it's a better search engine by far and that Amazon's leaves a LOT to be desired. Was just pointing out that Amazon owns ABE, therefre they make money when ABE does. No way to starve the giant, as Amazon's business model is to buy up any company that is viewed as a legitimate threat.
As I said, Amazon's search proprietary search engine suppresses non-copyrighted pre-1923 titles and diverts to POD rubbish. Often the ASIN is only "hiding" and I find it through Bookfinder, another Amazon property.
Hello,
I do not and have never sold books on amazon and yet
make plenty of sales via alibris, biblio, barnes and noble and abe books, etc..
Norman, how do you "populate" the bibliography on Single List Page, given an ISBN or ASIN, unless you have MWS? MWS (Marketplace Web Services) is an Amazon property.
I just enter the isbn where it says isbn and it populates, but nothing is listed on amazon. Biblio and Alibris are a majority of my sales. A gretaer part of my stock is in spanish and from Puerto Rico so allot of my books i enter all information manually.I sell form Puerto Rico,USA
