I just tried adding a new book listing to Amazon for a book printed in 1919. The template is new and seems to require an ISBN or UPC number to create a product listing. It says you can ask for an exemption, but you have to ask for each item and wait for up to 48 hours for permission. This makes it useless for me, a seller that has added hundreds of accurate book listing to their catalog over the years.
Anyone else frustrated by this? Any workarounds?
I am in the same position as you and have been listing Non-ISBN books for years. I just went through the process of listing one book with an ISBN to see how much trouble it would be. After it rejected the book, when I pushed the link that asks for an exemption, there is a note that says that you can make a one time request for your category (books). I did this and used Generic as the publisher. After I did this, it said I was approved and that I will be able to list non ISBN books in 1/2 hour. Still waiting to see if this is true, but am hopeful. Have you had any luck?
Just a follow up - it worked. I can now list books without ISBNs again. Hope you have the same outcome. Cheers
I take that back. After approving me for listing and finishing the entry with any ISBN, it never showed up in my inventory. And when I tried again, it would not let me list it - and looped me through the whole process again - so it's not working after all.

I'm new to this, but a friend said for books with no ISBN check if there's an existing listing of that book and use the ASIN #
